K. Jones and the Benzie Playboys

K. Jones and the Benzie Playboys are a six piece band playing blends of traditional, old school zydeco and cajun music, while infusing rock, reggae and blues. The band grew from the woods and swamps of northwestern lower Michigan with roots of founding members Kirk Jones and Mark Stoltz starting in Louisiana. Their early exposure inspired a lifelong respect for Louisiana culture and music which they share with their fans across the country.

Jones, lead singer, plays traditional button accordions and fiddle alongside Stoltz who scrubs the washboard and plays triangle. Jonah Powell, fiddle player and guitarist, contributes plenty of sweet leads to the mix while the rhythm and second lead guitarist, Sean Dye, locks in the sound with heart and timing. Doug Albright, on the 5 string bass, is melodic and snappy, aligning his funk and groove with drummer Jamey Barnard who drives the freight train with a soulful source.
