Do you suffer from shoulder, back, hip, pelvis or knee pain that just will not go away? You may think you have tried EVERYTHING! This pain may actually be coming from your sacroiliac joints. These joints are frequently overlooked as the source that could cause dysfunction, pain, and/or immobility in other areas of the body.
What are the sacroiliac joints? They are moveable joints on the back side of your pelvis that sometimes get moved out of place due to injury, weakness, or altered movement patterns over time. This can cause disruption with other structures (muscles, nerves, ligaments) that lead to altered movement patterns and can ultimately lead to pain in areas of the body.
The physical therapists at the Grand Traverse Pavilions can help by performing a comprehensive assessment to determine the source of your pain. Hint: it’s not always where you think it is! Ask you physician for a prescription for physical therapy at the Wellness Center or call 231-932-3172 with any questions.
