What is Assisted Living?

Understanding Support at The Cottages

Assisted living is designed for individuals who are still independent in many ways but could benefit from some additional support with daily routines.

Families often begin exploring assisted living when they notice small changes that start to add up. These changes may include difficulty managing medications, preparing meals, getting dressed, or moving safely throughout the day.

At The Cottages, residents live in a comfortable environment where support is available while still encouraging independence.

Ann McMann, Residential Services Director at the Grand Traverse Pavilions, explains that assisted living often brings peace of mind to both residents and families.

“Many families tell us they feel relief once support is in place. Everyday tasks that had become stressful suddenly feel manageable again.”

Support may include:

  • help with dressing or personal care
  • medication reminders
  • mobility assistance
  • meals and nutrition support
  • housekeeping
  • opportunities for activity and social connection

Assisted living allows individuals to maintain dignity and independence while receiving the help they need to feel safe and supported.

Many residents continue to enjoy active and meaningful daily routines with the right level of support.

When daily routines begin to feel more challenging, support can make a meaningful difference. We are here to talk through whether assisted living may be helpful. When you are ready, give us a call 231-932-3000 or email anytime.  We are here to help.
